Turkish Hospitality

Hospitality is a typical characteristic for Turkish culture and way of life and Turkish people are known around the world for making one welcome. No matter whether they know a person or he is a stranger to them, hosts will always be friendly and courteous with their guests.

Turkish people are willing to open with a smiling face their houses to every guest and with all their sincerity give the best seat and cook the best food for him. Gracious and generous hosts and traditional hospitality will meet you in every corner of the country. A typical example is the attitude of shop-keepers all around the Turkish bazaars. As a tourist you'll find yourself offered tea by almost anyone who is trying to sell you something. Usually this is not a trade tactic and it would not be rude to refuse the hot cup of tea. In most cases people are more than happy to talk to you about your background and ask you questions such as where you're from, whether you're married, what you do and so on.
