The Church of St Saviour in Chora is considered to be one of the most well preserved and beautiful examples of Byzantine churches around the world.
This amazing church is located in the Edirnekapi district in Istanbul. During the 16th century it was converted into a church my the Ottoman Empire of the time.
It was only until the 1948 the the Chora church was converted into a museum that can be now visited by travelers.

The incredible interior of the Church of St Saviour in Chora is decorated with beautiful frescoes and ver well preserved byzantine mosaics. There was an original church built on the same place during the 5th century but posteriorly demolished probably due to an earthquake to give place to a new model built in the 14th century.
