Museum of Turkish and Islamic ArtsThe Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum is an interesting museum located in Sultanahmet Square. Built back in 1524 as a former palace for Ibrahim Pasha.

The creation of this collection was begun in the 19th century and ranges from the beginning periods of Islam itself still during the Omayyad caliphate, throughout modern times and recent years of Islam.

The enormous 40.000 object collection of the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts includes great examples of Islamic calligraphy, tiles, rugs and ethnographic displays on various Turkish cultures and nomad groups of central and eastern Anatolia.
